For more than 140 years, Bloomfield College has served unique needs in higher education. From its original inception in 1868 as the German Theological Seminary to today, Bloomfield College has provided a cutting-edge education to thousands of motivated students from all over the world.
The mission of Bloomfield College is
to prepare students to attain academic, personal and professional excellence in a multicultural and global society. In fulfilling this mission, the College remains committed to providing a culturally enriching campus environment, study abroad opportunities, and a hands-on approach to student learning.
One of the greatest assets of Bloomfield College is the diversity of its 2,200 students. Approximately 75 percent of students are minority, 65 percent are women and 30 percent are over 25-years old. Recently, the College was designated as a Beat the Odds School by the Gates Foundation. This distinction was given to only 40 schools nationally and recognizes achievements in graduation and retention rates among minority students.
Many of Bloomfield College students are the first in their family to attend college, a dream for them as well as their families. The College provides an opportunity to fulfill this dream by awarding 83 percent of students with $8 million in direct financial aid each year. Bloomfield College and its community of alumni and friends are proud of its role in changing lives by educating the next generation of leaders and doers.
The success of our students can be linked to the generosity of others. Many scholarships, academic programs, support services, and capital improvements are funded by alumni and friends. With that in mind, please know that your support of the Bloomfield College Fund will provide the extra margin of excellence for today’s students.
