Introducing the Honorary Degree Recipients for 2011

Bloomfield College has announced that four prominent New Jersey residents will receive honorary doctoral degrees at the 137th Commencement exercises to be held on May 26, 2011.

Author and active community volunteer Dorothea Benton Frank will receive a Doctor of Fine Arts; CEO Ralph Izzo will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters; Congressman Donald Payne will receive a Doctor of Laws; and retired Bestfoods and Bestfoods Educational Foundation Vice President and philanthropist Luis Schuchinski will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters.

Dorothea Benton Frank is a prolific writer who has had several books on the New York Times best seller list. She is passionate about community service and has served or currently serves on many boards as well as sharing her love for the creative arts in public venues. Read her biography here.

Ralph Izzo is CEO and chairman of the Board of Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. He is respected as a public policy maker and has served or currently serves on many boards. He is a champion of clean energy and environmental concerns. Read his biography here.

Donald M. Payne is the first African American congressman from New Jersey to be elected to the U.S. Congress. He champions education, global health care, workers rights, and human rights around the world. Read his biography here.

Luis Schuchinski is retired from his position as vice president of the Bestfoods Corporation where he led the company in corporate governance, executive compensation and insurance.
He also worked for Bestfoods Educational Foundation, an organization that has been a strong supporter of the College.  Read his biography here.
